I make my own choices

Well, girl making chaos, as the title goes. I would like to write about the primary differential integrities we see in our everyday lives. Ever given a thought about what it is to be a woman, a girl, a wife, a daughter?

Flipping through Vogue Magazines, Femina Magazines, or scrolling up the blogs centered on women makes us feel superior or like we have conquered the world. There is always a shadow when you walk and there is always a footprint left behind when you are ahead. Men are well off in their place and so are women. But, there is a question hovering in every woman’s mind, which is — “Where do I stand in the society?”.

Nobody questions a successful man asking — “How are you balancing your family and the success you always wanted ?”. Now, this question intrigues me to think, why does society have to question a woman about her family and her success, why not her success and only her success? Not placing thoughts about gender equality. This is completely different and much beyond a normal or sensational topic.

Our past decades in history have witnessed the fall and rise of patriarchal walls standing resistance to millions of events. We live in a world where patriarchy has been deep-rooted and questioning it, has never crossed the minds of people.

There was a video that went viral, in which a six-year-old Teresa, questions about the terminology “Man-made”. She asks why is it man-made? Why not human-made? Don’t women build anything, why should it be centered on men and not women. For this, Brut uploaded a video of many successful women answering this question of hers.

One answer caught my attention, it was Zuni Chopra an author who says “ We live in a society, where patriarchy is so ingrained that no one questions it. It's systematic at its point. It starts when someone is born into the world where they are expected to be subservient, stand up, and asks why?

We as a younger generation need to know what we can, particularly those of us in positions of privilege and power to add to that wave and fight it. Because the future is female.”

Be it a homemaker or a working woman, both run errands managing their house and work-life. Managing both spheres of life is no less than a challenge. She cannot afford to commit any mistakes because one small mistake of hers would lead to a huge disturbance.

Lastly, it’s we women who should be able to make our choices, our decisions. Women must not be categorized concerning their profession and never questioned differently regarding her life. She represents herself, she is the magic within herself. Equality and discrimination have always been in the discussion but she needs to make her stand in society because she is no different than a man.
